Short Story:

Black or White is the story of a grandfather (Kevin Costner) who is suddenly left to care for his beloved granddaughter. With the best intentions at heart, both families fight for what they feel is right and are soon forced to confront their true feelings about race, forgiveness, and understanding. Anchored by an all-star cast and based on real events, the movie is a look at two seemingly different worlds, in which nothing is as simple as black or white.

The movie is so wary of alienating audiences that only at the very end does it explode into violence. That blowup is a contrived, unsatisfying confrontation between Elliott and Reggie that is too calculated to be cathartic.

Short Story:

In 1927, the young Turing (Alex Lawther) is unhappy and bullied at boarding school. He develops a friendship with Christopher Morcom (Jack Bannon), who sparks his interest in cryptography, and Turing develops romantic feelings for him. Before Turing can confess his love, Christopher dies unexpectedly from tuberculosis.


In the 1950s, Turing is convicted of indecency and, in lieu of a jail sentence, undergoes chemical castration so he can continue his work. Clarke visits him in his home and witnesses his physical and mental deterioration. She reminds him that his work saved lives. She uses the phrase Christopher used of Turing and Turing once used of her: "Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine."

Short Story:


As a group of friends discover plans for a time machine, they build it and use it to fix their problems and personal gain. But as the future falls apart with disasters, and each of them disappear little by little, they must travel back to the past to make sure they never invent the machine or face the destruction of humanity.

At the basement, David confronts his father Ben, who recognizes him and deduces that he'll eventually complete the machine. David convinces Ben of the machine's danger and they destroy the blueprints and a vital circuit together, before David is erased from the timeline. However, his camera is left behind and records the whole thing. Back in the future, David and Christina are once again going through their father's belongings, when they find the alternate David's camera with footage of them from minutes before. Later, at school, David approaches Jessie for the first time once again, displaying knowledge of the future, and confides in her that they're about to "change the world."
